Peaches are the flavor of summer! At Sugar Plum Acres our peach season typically begins in late July/early August and lasts through to early September. We have several varieties that are available in succession. As each variety ripens and is harvested, another takes its place, though demand often exceeds supply!

Quality fruit comes from healthy, happy trees. And healthy trees are more resistant to disease and pests, reducing the need for interventions! The health of the trees is a reflection of the soil they are grown in.

Pollinators are very important to the production of fruit, and the gardens are full of plants that provide bees with a steady supply of food and shelter. While we do not keep bees here on the farm, there are many local sources for the beneficial insects who frequent our farm.

Varieties are listed below in order of ripening (more or less):

Redhaven

Medium, nearly fuzz-less fruit; color is a beautiful red and golden yellow. Flesh is firm, smooth textured and fine-flavored. It becomes freestone as it ripens. Excellent for eating fresh, canning, and freezing.

Glohaven

Large nearly round, attractive yellow freestone fruit. Very tough, mostly red skin is practically fuzz-less with a deep yellow ground color. Firm yellow flesh with superior canning and freezing qualities. Excellent for eating fresh, canning and freezing.

Roza

Fruit is large, firm freestone with medium red blush covering 80% of the surface. Flesh is deep yellow. Flavor is excellent for eating fresh and canning.

Red Globe

Large, firm peach that is very sweet with an excellent flavor. It is excellent for eating fresh, as well as canning and freezing.

Fortyniner

Large size fruit, skin is brightly blushed over yellow ground color that is very attractive. Flesh is yellow with outstanding quality and pure peach taste. Excellent for eating fresh, canning, and freezing.

Cresthaven

Fruit is uniform, large in size, nearly round, golden yellow with a bright red blush. Firm, juicy, clear, bright yellow freestone flesh. Great for canning, freezing, and eating fresh.

Elberta

Old-time variety with golden yellow flesh and oval shape. Very sweet flavor and notable for its canning prowess. Also great for eating fresh and freezing.
